The Program

The Teacher Training Program at Flow Training & Yoga offers students a comprehensive study of yoga with a strong base of hatha yoga complemented by the study of the 8 limbs of yoga as outlined in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras (the definitive text of yoga philosophy written between 300 BC and 300 AD).

Classes are small (between 6 and 10 students) and provide the opportunity for personal as well as professional growth. In an individualized program of this nature, each student receives the opportunity to develop his or her unique gifts. An additional feature of the small class is that a strong bond often grows between students who discover they learn as much from one another as from the faculty.

Faculty members hold extensive backgrounds in yoga therapy and kinesiology allowing this program to emphasize anatomy, alignment and a special focus on complementing yoga for individuals and yoga therapy basics. Graduates of this program will have a strong foundation in working with the individual goals and needs of participants allowing them to seamlessly move into the growing industry of yoga therapy, individual yoga training and group yoga classes.

This program is completed over a one year period. Classes begin in January and run until the mid December with July and August reserved for self study. Students meet once a week for 3.5 hours plus 7 weekend retreats, maintain a personal yoga practice and participate or shadow a weekly hatha yoga class with a senior teacher. In total the program offers students over 280 hours of quality instruction. There is also the opportunity to extend the practicum component to meet Yoga Association of Alberta certification requirements.
