Temporary Group Fitness Class Restrictions

As you may have heard, the Alberta government has ordered a two week temporary restriction of group fitness classes. This temporary restriction (4 people per class plus one teacher) will be from November 13-27. Pre-registration is required to attend in studio classes due to the very limited spots.

Our teachers and staff have worked incredibly hard to keep our sanctuary at YogaMCC safe to the highest standards possible and to date we have had zero incidents of COVID-19.

We personally don't consider ourselves to be a fitness centre. What we offer is so much more than fitness. YogaMCC is about supporting mind, body and spirit. We believe we are at the front lines of this pandemic supporting the mental health and well being of our community and it is our responsibility to continue to do this in every way possible.

Here is our response to the restrictions:

Please read the important information below before coming back to the studio.



1. Do you have any of the below symptoms:


  • Fever

  • Cough

  • Shortness of Breath / Difficulty Breathing

  • Sore throat

  • Chills

  • Painful swallowing

  • Runny Nose / Nasal Congestion

  • Feeling unwell / Fatigued

  • Nausea / Vomiting / Diarrhea

  • Unexplained loss of appetite

  • Loss of sense of taste or smell

  • Muscle/ Joint aches

  • Headache

  • Conjunctivitis


2. Have you, or anyone in your household, returned from travel outside of Canada in the last 14 days?


3. Have you or anyone in your household been in close unprotected contact (face-to-face contact within two-metres) with someone who is ill with cough and/or fever?


4. Have you or anyone in your household been in close unprotected contact in the last 14 days with someone who is being investigated or confirmed to be a case of COVID19?


If you have answered “YES” to any of the above questions do not come to the studio. Proceed home and use the AHS Online Assessment Tool to determine if testing is recommended.



  • Classes are now spaced 1/2 hour apart so there is time to clean the studio in-between each class & so students do not come & go at the same time. Please make sure to familiarize yourself with the new schedule and thank you for understanding that we made these changes for safety reasons.

  • Students can come to class no more that 10 minutes early to give staff time to clean the studio between classes.

  • There are physical distancing markers on the floor so that students stay 2 m apart while they are waiting in line to check-in. To make checking in efficient and to reduce wait times please consider making purchases and asking involved questions until after class, if possible.

  • People shopping in the boutique must be 2 m apart at all times. Please do not touch items you do not intend to buy.

  • NO change rooms available at this time. Please arrive dressed for class.

  • NO mat storage available at this time.

  • NO coat closet available at this time.



  1. First thing on entering YogaMcc, use hand sanitizer.

  2. Confirm that you have done the Screening Checklist and confirm that you answer “no” to each question.

  3. Confirm that you have signed off on the new waiver that should have popped up when you registered for class. If you have not seen the new waiver yet, read the one posted at the front desk and confirm that you agree to the terms.

  4. Please bring your yoga mat and all your own props. Limited props will be available for use in the studio for a $2 cleaning fee. Please check the class description for guidance on what props to bring.

  5. When have activated the tap function on our point of sale system to reduce touch points.

  6. Once you have signed in for class go straight to one of the marked spots in the studio. Put the top of your mat along the marker.

  7. After class exit through the back door to maintain a one way flow in and out of the studio.


Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

  • We encourage students to wear a mask in the reception area and remove the mask once you arrive at your spot within the studio.

  • We will have some reusable cloth masks available for sale at the front desk.

  • Masks are not to be worn during class.
